taking time out to myself

Taking Time Out

I felt that I needed a change, time out to look back at the past few years, to have time to be by myself, and to think about what I wanted to do in the new year.

I spent time at my daughter’s unit while she and her husband were away for a few days.

For the first time in my life I was completely by myself doing just what ever took my fancy. It was a strange feeling to have no responsibility, except to look after myself and do whatever I pleased.

As I looked back at the past year, I realised that I had a lot of experiences that gave me a clearer understanding of my life and the directions I need to take to achieve the things I want in my future.

I was happy with the things that I had achieved, and some of the decisions I made for the new year, like my trip with my sister to Tasmania.

Having only myself to cater for I realised that I need to take better care of my health, to keep my body active as well as my mind..

To unclutter things in my life that I don’t use, and all the things in my wardrobe that I haven’t worn for ages.

To work on writing my short stories and writing my blogs.

Taking this special time out has been good for me, it has made me realise the things and people that are important to me.

I usually live a life surrounded by family and friends, in my own home which of course I am very grateful for.

I realised that spending time with family and friends is one of the most important things to me.

There is an old saying ‘you never miss the water until the well runs dry.’

We often take for granted the things that matter most to us. Spending quality time with my family and friends is very important to me.

Taking time out gave me a clearer picture of where I am in this stage of my life, as well as what I wanted to achieve in the year ahead. Also places I would like to visit and people I wanted to spend more time with.

I would recommend that spending some time out is a great way to get more clarity in what one really wants out of life. It worked for me.

So now I am back home and working on the plans I have for an exciting time ahead in 2019. This is my first blog for the new year and I would like to thank you all for following me through the past year on ‘When you Get to my Age’.

I am looking forward to sharing with you all, some of the adventures in the year ahead.
